  • DENTAL IMPLANTS

    What is a Dental Implant?

dentalimplant A Dental Implant is basically an artificial tooth root that is placed into your jaw to hold either a single replacement tooth or a multi-tooth bridge or implant supported removable denture or implant supported fixed denture/prosthesis.

    Who needs a Dental Implant?

Dental Implants maybe an option for people who have lost a tooth or teeth due to either a periodontal disease or to an injury or to a birth defect or to some other reason

Parameters which ensures long life of dental Implant

There are essentially 4 stages in life of a dental implant. Careful planning & execution during all this 4 stages ensures a long life of implant

    Pre-placement

We can also call this stage a planning stage of case selection stage. It is very important to first ascertain clinically if it is a right case for implant or not. Once dentist is clinically sure that he/she could put implant in the space available & gum health is proper for suggesting an dental implant, next step is to have a radiographic look. Best is to do a CBCT (dental CT scan) of the area where an implant is being planned. CBCT is essential as that would give idea about health of bone underneath, & also it helps in determining ideal width & length of implant for that particular site. Some dentists try to save 2000 rs (35 $) on CBCT but then that atleast will double the failure rate of implant. So it is better to get CBCT done before an implant surgery is planned

    Actual placement of implant

For ideal placement of implant, an experienced dental surgeon ensures following

    • Fumigation of the clinic area where an implant surgery is planned. This will ensure removal of all bacteria/viruses from the clinic area
    • Sterilization of all equipment, implant kit, surgical gloves & surgeons apron
    • Availability of an experienced implant surgeon (either a periodontist or an oral surgeon)

Loading Implant (Placing prosthesis on implant):

dentalimplant This stage is sometimes planned within 1 week of actual placement of implant. This is done where immediate loading is a possibility based on clinic condition & position of implant. If immediate loading is not recommended then a dentist would plan this stage after 2-3 months of placing the implant. In either case, it is important that this stage is executed well by a prosthodontist who has done lot of implant prosthesis. Implant prosthesis are a tricky thing & is the most common reason for an implant failure in future. An experienced implant prosthesis surgeon would ensure that all the steps are followed meticulously so that the chewing load is distributed very close to how it should be & it mimics as close to natural tooth as possible. This ensures longetivity of the implant.

    Post-placement

After implant is successfully loaded with prosthesis, dentist will allow you to use it for 2-3 days for normal chewing to see if you have any discomfort in using your new tooth/teeth. Once you are comfortable, the procedure is over. But then it is recommended that you visit dentist regularly for teeth cleaning & for general oral hygiene. This ensures that your gums will remain healthy & your synthetic tooth/teeth lasts lifetime

  • ROOT CANAL TREATMENT ROTARY

    Root Canal Treatment

rctrotary Not so long ago, endodontic treatment was done with hand filers & reamers. With today's technological advancements, performing a root canal with the aid of a rotary file system is simpler & more comfortable for the patient. The use of the rotary file system provides Dr.Jigar Patel more control letting them perform quite precise treatment. For the patient it indicates a root canal which will take a fraction of the time, is far more comfortable & a lot more accurate.

  • MICROSCOPIC R.C.T.- MICRODENTISTRY

    Precision & accuracy in dentistry

rctrotary The most up to date accessible method of root canal treatment is the microscopic root canal treatment. This method has several advantages which facilitates & assures the process of root canal treatment:

    1. It helps in making diagnosis & also in making an effective treatment plan.
    2. With the help of the coaxial illumination, light is falling exactly on the suitable arena, which enables the dentist to discover all the small details of the root canal.
    3. Using a magnification to 25x, the process becomes really precise, which increases the durability & the success rate of the process.
    4. If the root canal treatment is carried out with microscope, the risk of fracture or fissure is reduced to a minimum.
    5. If the root canal treatment is carried out with microscope, the risk of fracture or fissure is reduced to a minimum.
    6. The old, not functional root canal fillings can be successfully removed & refilled precisely with new filling material.
    7. Root canals having a shape that is other than the traditional shape of root canals, & root canals that are invisible to the naked eye can be cleaned & filled.
    8. Surgical instruments broke off can be removed
  • TOOTH COLORED RESTORATION COMPOSITE

    Composite Fillings

rctrotary Composite resins, or tooth-colored fillings, provide good durability & resistance to fracture in small- to mid-size fillings that need to withstand moderate pressure from the constant stress of chewing. They can be used on either front or back teeth. They are a good choice for people who prefer that their fillings look more natural.

Composites cost more than amalgam & occasionally are not covered by some insurance plans. Also, no dental filling lasts forever. Some studies show that composite fillings can be less durable & need to be replaced more often than amalgam fillings.

It generally takes longer to place a composite filling than it does for a metal filling. That's because composite fillings require the tooth be kept clean & dry while the cavity is being filled. Tooth-colored fillings are now used more often than amalgam or gold fillings, probably due to cosmetics. In a society focused on a white, bright smile, people tend to want fillings that blend with the natural color of their teeth

Ultimately, the best dental filling is no dental filling. Prevention is the best medicine. You can dramatically decrease your risk of cavities & other dental diseases simply by:

    • brushing your teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste
    • flossing daily
    • visiting the dentist regularly.
  • SILVER FILLING IN TEETH

    Fillings (Silver-Colored)

rctrotary Dental amalgam is made from a combination of metals that include mercury, silver, tin, & copper. Sometimes described as silver-colored” fillings, dental amalgam has been used by dentists for more than 100 years because it lasts a long time & is less expensive than other cavity-filling materials such as tooth-colored composites or gold fillings.

Because of their durability, these silver-colored fillings are often the best choice for large cavities or those that occur in the back teeth where a lot of force is needed to chew. Amalgam hardens quickly so it is useful in areas that are difficult to keep dry during placement, such as below the gum line. Because it takes less time to place than tooth-colored fillings, amalgam is also an effective material for children & special needs people who may have a difficult time staying still during treatment.

One disadvantage of amalgam is that these types of fillings are not natural looking, especially when the filling is near the front of the mouth, where it may show when you laugh or speak. Also, to prepare the tooth, the dentist may need to remove more tooth structure to place an amalgam filling than for other types of fillings.

After removing the tooth, the dental professional or specialist may put in stitches (sutures) & location gauze over the wound to assist stop bleeding.

  • CEMENT FILLING IN TOOTH

    Cement Filling

rctrotary Cement Filling are made of porcelain & are both durable as well as aesthetically pleasing. The material is more expensive than the other filling materials, but ceramics are tooth-colored & more resistant to staining & abrasion than composite resin. The disadvantages of using ceramic is that it is more brittle than its composite counter-part & it needs to be large enough to prevent it from breaking, so the tooth must be reduced in size to make room for the extra bulk. These ceramic restorations are typically referred to as inlays or onlays.

  • VENEERS & LAMINATES

    Veneers & Laminates

V&L A veneer is a thin shell (like egg shell) made of porcelain which is bonded onto the front surface of the tooth so that it can improve its cosmetic appearance.

To make a cosmetic change, a porcelain veneer is a suitable option, compared to dental bonding. Porcelain veneers usually look more healthy & have added benefits of resisting stains, Porcelain veneers may be fairly expensive & if it is not used in right way it can break. The disadvantage with a porcelain veneer if it breaks, the whole thing has to be replaced. Unlike dental bonding. It cannot be replaced or repaired.

To make a smile most attractive is to place porcelain veneers or jacket crowns. These Porcelain veneers are translucent, thin laminates, which are made to improve the aesthetics in (shape, spacing, colour) of natural teeth,& also to correct crowding, or to replace composite bonding.

If you already have a crown fixed on your front teeth, then porcelain of all jacket crowns can give you a more natural & attractive look & a better appearance. Or otherwise , cosmetic repositioning as an alternative to orthodontics with the placement of porcelain veneers.

    What are laminates & veneers?

There is little difference between laminates & veneers, & could be interchanged with regards to dentistry. They are basically shells which are of the same colour as our tooth, which are bonded to the front surfaces & are usually to make them look beautiful.

What are direct & indirect laminates?

A laminate is taken directly inside the person mouth, this a direct laminate which is done then & there. & indirect laminate is when the laminate is made in laboratory on a replica of the person's teeth, by making an impression on the teeth.

    What are laminates made from?

There are various & different materials from which laminates or veneer are made from , they are sometimes fabricated & in this case with metal-free crowns. Some of them are:

    1. Ceramics
    2. Zirconia
    3. Composite resin
  • SCALING & POLISHING

    Scaling & Polishing

rctrotary Dental cleanings involve removing plaque (soft, sticky, bacteria film) & tartar (calculus) deposits that have built up on the teeth over time. Your teeth are continually bathed in saliva which contains calcium , phosphorus, flourides & other substances which help strengthen & protect the teeth. While this is a good thing, it also means that we tend to get a build-up of calcium deposits on the teeth. Usually it is tooth coloured & can easily be mistaken as part of the teeth, but it also can vary from brown to black in colour.

If the scale, or calculus (tartar, as dentists like to call it) is allowed to accumulate on the teeth it will provide the right conditions for bacteria to thrive next to the gums. The purpose of the cleaning & polishing is basically to leave the surfaces of the teeth clean & smooth so that bacteria are unable to stick to them & you have a better chance of keeping the teeth clean during your regular home care.

Commonly used first is an ultrasonic instrument which uses tickling vibrations to knock larger pieces of tartar loose. It also sprays a cooling mist of water while it works to wash away debris & keep the area at a proper temperature. The device typically emits a humming or high pitched whistling sound. This may seem louder than it actually is because the sound may get amplified inside your head, just like when you put an electric toothbrush into your mouth.

Its recommended to visit your dentist every 6 months for then regular checkup & full mouth scaling & polishing.

  • TEETH BLEACHING

    Teeth Bleaching

rctrotary A beautiful vibrant smile is an asset everyone desires, which can now be easily attained through our advanced system of Teeth Whitening. Tooth whitening is the process of removing stains & discoloration from teeth & improving their color through a bleaching process to make them look whiter. Teeth Whitening is the quickest & most effective way to enhance the appearance of your smile & will give your smile a new lease on life.

The thickness of the enamel & its opacity help determine the color of your teeth as it determines how much of the inner yellow dentine color shows through. The part of the tooth closed to the gum is the darkest as the enamel is thinnest at this point. Baby teeth are lighter than permanent teeth. There is a genetic reason for this. It makes parents tell their children that they should be cleaning their teeth better in the crucial age of 6 - 8 years. Once all the permanent teeth have erupted the contrast is no longer present. Ask us to show you the large range of colors we can select from when making an artificial tooth - such as a crown. You will be quite surprised in the range of normal.

Make your teeth white & shining

Come & see us for a complete dental examination & ask us about whitening of your teeth. External stains may be removed by our professional cleaning. Options for tooth whitening can include: renewing white fillings, veneers, crowns, whitening gels & bleaching. Bleaching will be great for lots of people but we really need to discuss aspects of it. Bleaching is not recommended for pregnant or lactating women, children under the age of 14 years or smokers. If your teeth are lacking that brilliant white & sparkle, then teeth whitening can instantly brighten your smile; taking years off your age & removing staining & discoloration.

  • ORTHODENTIC TREATMENT(DENTAL BRACES)

    What is orthodontic treatment?

rctrotary Orthodontic treatment is a way of straightening or moving teeth, to improve the appearance of the teeth & how they work. It can also help to look after the long-term health of your teeth, gums & jaw joints, by spreading the biting pressure over all your teeth.

    Braces

Braces use constant, gentle pressure, which over time, move teeth into their proper positions. Your braces are at work every moment of your orthodontic treatment. The two main components of your braces are: the brackets that are placed on your teeth & the main archwire that connects them.

The bracket is a piece of shaped metal or ceramic that we affix to each tooth. The arch wire is bent to reflect your bite. In other words, it reflects the way we want you to look after treatment.

A distorted arch wire exerts a force on each tooth &, as it returns to its ideal, pre-formed shape, it moves the teeth to which it is attached through the bone.

    Types Of Braces
    1. Invisible Braces:- Our Clinic uses a series of invisible, removable, & comfortable aligners to straighten your teeth. Not only are the aligners invisible, they are removable, so you can eat & drink what you want while in treatment, plus brushing & flossing are less of a hassle. The aligners are comfortable & have no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment
    2. Ceramic Braces:- Ceramic braces are made of clear materials & are therefore less visible on your teeth than metal braces. For this reason, ceramic braces are used mainly in older teenagers & adult patients who have cosmetic concerns. While they are visually less prominent, they do require more attention to oral hygiene they are more brittle than their metal counterparts.
    3. Gold Braces:- Gold braces can provide a cosmetically pleasing alternativeto metal braces. Its appearance is warmer & therefore allows the braces to blend in better with the skin tone & jewellery. The luster of gold makes the braces standout in the sense that they look unique or distinctive, possibly somewhat reminiscent of fine quality jewellery.
    4. Metal Braces:-They are the most common type of braces popular among kids & teenagers. They are smaller & more comfortable today than ever before. Made of high-grade stainless steel, metal braces straighten your teeth using metal brackets & wires.
    5. The metal braces show off the over span class="highlightGray"40 braces color ties that you can change each appointment. Many people enjoy choosing different colours at each visit to correspond with the different holidays throughout the year.

  • FLEXIBLE DENTURES

    Flexible Dentures

flexible Dentures The secret to these soft dentures is the undercut of the gum ridge. Flexible dentures hook into these undercuts to provide the stability needed to eat tough foods like apples & even hard nuts.

A flexible denture is really just a traditional denture with a flexible resin coating as the last inner coating. It's the flexible resin that locks into your undercuts & acts as a buffer between your gums & the hard base. More flexibility can be added by constructing the entire denture out of this flexible material.

These flexible resins are more expensive but also longer-lasting than your traditional soft liner. However, the material used happens to be non-porous so that no bacteria can build up within it. Even though it's non-porous it can retain a small percentage of water to help interface with adjacent tissues.

Another advantage to a soft denture is that the trial fitting can be used as part of the final denture, meaning that the overall production time of a soft denture is shorter than that of a hard acrylic denture.

If you're tired of the pains of wearing a hard denture, consider talking to your dentist about the possibility of a completely soft & flexible denture. Though it is not for every patient, it's worth looking into because the results can often make a world of a difference.
